Installation
Wire Running (Not needed if you receive new harness version)
Connect the power in the penthouse location. It's located on the right side of the car, below the kick panel trim. After you remove the rear seat, you can remove the right side kick panel trim and you you can see the red cap. Loosen the bolt inside the cap and then connect the power tapping cable into it.
You can connect the ground in car chassis near the penthouse.
Run the power and ground connectors into each of the four doors. In the kit you can see two identical long wire harness, one is for the left side and one is for the right side. The yellow and black with with connectors are for the front door, and the yellow and black with with just terminal is for the rear door.
For the rear door, you will first need to disconnect the connector on the door. To access the connector easier, we recommend to remove the B pillar trim.
To remove the B pillar trim, first remove the upper B pillar trim. Just detach the upper piece from the B pillar and set the piece on the front seat. Then you can see a phillips screw tightened on the lower B pillar trim. Loosen it and then you can jiggle and pull the lower piece out.
Insert the terminals of the long harness to the connector on the body side. To insert the terminal you need to pry out the middle piece on the connector a bit before inserting.
You can also see a shorter wire with terminals on yellow and black wire. Insert those two terminals to the door side connector.
Removal Door panels and closeout panels
Refer to the following guide to remove door panels and closeout panels.
Door Panel and Window RemovalGo ahead and remove the door lock. These are T-25 screws.
Make sure you use T-25 screwdrivers. If you use a smaller one, the screws can be stripped.
Take out the door lock and the latch motor with the longer wire. Hook the latch motor wire to the door lock, and put the cover on. Install the door lock using the original screws, and plug the OEM connector to our soft close lock.
To set the mount bracket of the latch motor, please refer to this picture below.
Connect the latch motor harness (the longer one). Connect one end to the latch motor, and another end to the bottom of the lock.
Connect the power and ground connector that you run into the door. For newer harness, use the provided harness and do the connection as shown in the picture below.
There is a C shape foam included for each door, stick in on the inner side of the door, as indicated:
Test the soft closing, and install everything back in reverse.
Before you close the door, if the window is installed back, make sure you connect the puddle light before testing, otherwise the windows trim can be damaged as the window will not go gown upon closing.
After you put the window back, make sure you test the window to make sure the latch motor do not block the way of the window when it go down.
The installation of the door unit of the rear door is exactly like how you install the front door. You can install the latch motor bracket in the indicated position (you need to insert the bracket into a hook like structure inside the door panel).
