Adjust the liftgate to your desired height. Press and hold the button on the control unit for about 5 seconds, until you hear a beep (Make sure the buzzer is connected).
When the liftgate is in open state, press and hold the button on the control unit. You will eventually hear two long beeps (speed 2), three long beeps (speed 3), four long beeps (speed 4), up to six long beeps (speed 6). Release the button after you hear the speed you want to set. The slowest speed is speed 2 and the highest speed is speed 6. The factory default is at speed 4.

Remove the cover panel piece on the top of the frunk. Pull it out with bare hand.
Next, remove the 4 10mm screws and take out the frunk liner
Now remove the struts. The strut is hidden but can be easily spotted on two side. Use a precision pick or a thin flat head screwdriver to insert into the band and then pull the strut out. It will be easier to take out the strut if you have someone that can push up the hood a bit to release the tension on the joint. To remove the strut from the lower ball joint, you need a really thin flathead screwdriver or some precision pick tool. Another way is to use a 13mm wrench to take out the joint together with the strut.
Remove the other struts as well. The hood will start to fall after one strut is removed so it's better to have someone holding the hood. It is recommended to remove both struts before installing the replacement strut otherwise it will be more difficult to remove the second strut.
Unbolt the lower joint that hold the strut using a 13mm wrench.
Using an Allen hex key or a T-30 driver, install our backplate (R means Passenger side on LHD car, L means driver side on LHD car) using the screw provided. Do it on both side. The label might be misprinted, so refer to the picture below for the backplate installation.
Install the struts. Try to fit the upper joint first (wire side on the bottom), then install the bottom joint.
Now the difficult part is done, do the latch part. Try to use some masking tape to mark the current position of the latch before taking the latch out. Remove the latch by unbolting the two 10mm hex screws that are holding it. Also unplug the connector from the latch (the green circled one in the picture)
Attach our latch mechanism as shown in the picture. You need to remove the spring first, hook in our latch mechanism, then re-attach the spring. To remove the spring, it's easier to push the lower part of the spring toward the right to release the spring. Try to adjust our add on bracket in a relatively lower position against the existing latch. Also connect our signal wire harness into the latch unit, and then connect the existing OEM connector back to the female part of our connector pair.
Run the emergency wire to the tow cap. Pry the tow cap and use electrical tape to wrap the emergency wire together with the jump starter wire.
Connect the brown connector from the major wire harness to the latch motor, and zip tie the latch motor to avoid it from moving. Try to zip tie the latch motor in a lower location behind the wheel well.
Now attach the blue connector pair to the lock motor unit (located on the right side of the car, if you are facing toward the car it's on your left side)
Now it's time to connect power and ground. Take out the power cable, and insert it into the 12v battery (loosen the 10mm nut, insert and retighten). If you have a newer 2021 model that comes with a Hepa Filter, you need to unbolt the 2 10mm hex screws on both side of the Hepa filter, then you can take the filter out to reveal the battery.
Connect the silver spade connector into this power wire. (remove the male connector plug from the power wire, insert the silver spade into the male connector, then connect it back to the 12v wire)
If your car is a 2022+ car, use the provided nut and tap the power as indicated in the picture below:
For the ground connection, tap the gold metal spade into any ground you can find (the red circled locations are some suggestion)
Connect the signal wire into the major wire harness (4 pin black connector)
Connect the buzzer to the major harness.
Connect the strut wires to the major harness.
Now plug the big connector to the control unit, and set it to the indicated location. For newer 2021 model, please refer to the second picture below for the suggested location.
Now the system is ready to be tested. We need to make sure the latch can be released after locking, so use your hand or a screwdriver, push downward on the latch to "lock" the latch. Then plug in the OEM wire back to the emergency button (On the little cover that you removed). Press the emergency button to make sure the latch got released.
Next we will do the landing check functionality. With the hood opened, double click on the button on our control unit. You will hear the motor start to move. After the double click, try to check the frunk status on your screen. If the frunk status is still showing the frunk as "opened", then the landing check functionality is good. Otherwise, try to contact us for a newer firmware.
Please make sure the latch mechanism is hooked into the latch before doing the landing check. Doing landing check before hooking in will damage the latch motor.
Now push the lever arm thing down on our add-on bracket. While you push down the lever arm, do the double click test again. After that, the lock should be fully latched. Go back to the car's screen and make sure the frunk is shown as "closed".
Hold the black button on the control unit until you hear a beep to initialize the system. After initialized, press the emergency button to test the frunk closing. If the frunk close successfully, then go to open the frunk from the touchscreen to test the opening.
Q: I installed the frunk but the frunk cannot open unless I lift it up little bit first.
Try to adjust our latching bracket as low as possible in relative to the factory latch mechanism.
Q: The frunk will lower but will not do the final latching.
At first check if the latch motor work. While holding the "lever arm" of the latch mechanism down, do a double click on the ECU button. See if you can hear "two" latching click. If you can only hear one, try to adjust the 12mm nut of the latch mechanism up to tighten the pull wire. If you don't hear any sound, try to check the latch motor connection.
On the back of the control unit, you can see the version of your control unit.
If you see the code ends in 1500, that's a Mark 4.1 v1500 version.
If you see the code ends in 1501, that's a Mark 4.1 v1501 version.
If you see the code ends in 210, that's a Mark 4.1 v210 version.
If you don't see any label in the back of the control unit, that's a Mark 4.0 version.

Prepare a microSD with 32GB
or below capacity. Make sure it is in FAT32
format.
Get the update file ready. The file would be provided by tech support if needed. Rename the file to update.yst
and place it under the root of the microSD.
Eject it from the card reader afterwards.
Insert the microSD into the control unit. The red LED will be flashing rapidly.
Wait until the LED becomes solid and eject the microSD.
The LED should be flashing constantly now and you are all set!
