Installation
Step 1 - Removing the hatch panels
There are two panels to remove. Remove the one that near the hatch glass first (simply pull it down. It's hold by clips).
After the inner panel is removed. On each side there is a push pin. Pry out the push pin and remove the outer panel. Once the outer panel is loosen, unplug the white connector on the left. Set the panels aside.
Step 2 - Run the wire to the hatch
Take out the foot sensor wire harness. We will need to run the end with 5 bare terminals up to the latch. Start from the indicated location. Use a fishing tape to run the wire. This is the most tricky part.
Continue to run the wire through the rubber tubing, and eventually to the hatch area.
Step 3 - Connect the signals in the hatch
Take out the signal harness. Remove the big grey connector from the OEM latch. Plug the OEM connector into the matching bypass connector from our signal harness, and plug our harness connector back to the OEM latch.
Next we will connect the external release signal connector. The connector is located in the middle, unplug it and plug the connector to our bypass connector. Plug the other end of our connector pair back to the car.
With the 5 terminals that was run to the hatch, take out the 5 pin connector given. Insert the 5 terminals into the connector such that the color sequence would match the sequence of the mating connector from the signal harness.
The remaining bypass pair is for the trunk closing button. Remove the connector from the trunk closing button on the outer panel that was removed. Plug the OEM connector to the bypass connector pair, and plug the other end of the connector back to the button. Now you can reconnect the white connect on the left and reinstall the outer panel.
Step 4 - Run the wire to the front
Run the wire along the seal and then connect the connector as shown in the picture. Run the remaining portion of the foot sensor harness to the back of the car. On the same harness you will find a two pin connector. Connect the long harness and run the other end of the long harness to the passenger side of the car. No matter your car is LHD or RHD, always run the wire to the passenger side.
Step 5 - Connect the decoder harness
On the decoder harness, you can see a big white connector. Connect it to the blue idle connector behind the carpet near the door on the right side of the car.
Next, connect the 12v, it's the red long wire on the same harness. You will need to connect it to a constant 12v source. Either run the wire to the jump post on the frunk, or if your car has a OBD port on the left side of the car, run the wire to the pin 11 of the OBD connector.
Connect the decoder. Make sure you set the 1 and 2 of the switches on the decoder to "on".
Connect the long harness to the decoder harness by the 2 pin connector.
Step 6 - Run the foot sensor wire down and connect the foot sensor
There are two ways to run the foot sensor wire down.
The easiest way is to run it through the trunk seal and fish the wire down. You can pry out the little plastic cover where the tow hook is located, and mount the sensor in the spot.
The more difficult way is to remove the trunk well and then fish the wire down.
Step 7 - Test the foot sensor
Now you can test the foot sensor. Try to test if the foot sensor get deactivated when the car is in car wash mode, when the emergency flash light is on, and when the car is not in Park mode. Reassemble everything after testing.
Troubleshooting
Q: The foot sensor does not work.
There are several things that you can check. First is to make sure the bypass connector on the trunk closing button is connected. Also make sure you connect both end of the long harness.
